Bringing Faculty Expertise and Experience into the Online Classroom (10/27/17)

This year, the College of Online Education is asking all faculty to share more of their rich experience and expertise with students. But what does that actually look like in practice? And what might it look like in your online course? This hour-long session:

  • Explores what research and feedback from COE students tells us about the value of online teaching practices that draw on faculty members’ unique expertise and experiences in their fields

  • Recommends light-touch strategies for sharing your own background and experience through announcements, discussion forums, and other tools that are already part of your online teaching toolkit

  • Suggests innovative uses of technology, such as VoiceThread and Turnitin, to literally share your voice with students

  • Highlights COE faculty who have adopted model practices
